What is the Snohomish County Charter Review Commission?

Every 10 years, voters elect a Charter Review Commission to review the Snohomish County Charter — the county’s governing document, like a local constitution. The Commission is made up of 15 community members elected by district.

The Commission’s job is to study how the County government works, listen to public input, and propose amendments to improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency. Any changes they propose must be approved by voters in a future election.

This is your chance to help shape how local government serves the people of Snohomish County — now and for the next decade. Learn more:

How to Vote in the 2026 Snohomish County Elections

Register or Update Your Registration

  • Online: Use VoteWA.gov (requires a Washington State ID or driver’s license)

  • By mail: Download the form and send it to Snohomish County Elections, 3000 Rockefeller Ave, M/S 505, Everett, WA 98201

  • In person: Visit the Snohomish County Elections office during business hours (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm)

Eligibility: U.S. citizenship, legal Washington residency, age 18 by election day (16‑ or 17‑year‑olds may pre‑register). Must not be disenfranchised due to incarceration or court order. You don’t declare a political party when registering; Washington’s primaries are non‑partisan and party preference isn’t recorded.

When You’ll Receive Your Ballot

Ballots are mailed approximately 18 days before the election. Overseas or military voters may receive them up to 45 days early. If you haven’t received your ballot about 10 days before Election Day, contact Snohomish County Elections at (425) 388‑3444.

How to Use and Return Your Ballot

  1. Carefully read the instructions included in your ballot packet.

  2. Mark your choices by filling in the ovals with blue or black ink — no felt‑tip pens.

  3. Remove the removable stub at the top.

  4. Insert the ballot into the secrecy sleeve, then seal it in the return envelope.

  5. Sign and date the return envelope.

  6. Return your ballot by placing it in an official drop box or mailing it. Postage is prepaid, so no stamp is needed.

You don’t have to vote every race; under‑votes are counted. But voting more than once in the same contest invalidates that race (though other races still count).
